Course Guide

A. Course Overview: This a course in the understanding and appreciation of the four main arts namely painting, sculpture, architecture and music from the ancient to modern times. It includes the study of the elements, respective milieu and functions in society of these forms of arts.

B. Course Goals: At the end of the semester, you are expected to:
Determine the organization of elements, media and techniques of different art forms
Determine standards in judging different works of art
Classify art forms into different period and genre
Appreciate art forms in its socio-historical content

D. Course Requirements: To pass the course, you must attend classes regularly and take all quizzes and major exams to be administered and obtain a satisfactory mark. Other requirements include class presentations and projects relevant to the lesson.

Prelim/Midterm/Final Grade:
Average Quizzes+ (Major Exam x 2) + *Class Standing

* 10% Attendance, 50% Critique, 40% Project/Presentation

FINAL RATING: Prelim Grade + Midterm Grade + Final Grade
